Staff and students at St Wilfrid's Academy took part in a whole school British Values Day last week. Students took part in a variety of activities that allowed them to explore the Fundamental British Values of Democracy, the Rule of Law, Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These activities included taking part in a courtroom trial and identifying what being British looks like. They also experienced democracy through taking part in a vote using a polling station to decide whether we should have longer school hours and an extra day off at the weekend, or remain as we are...it was a close vote but the current school hours will continue! At breaktime staff competed in a Great British Bake Off, after which the cakes were sold, raising funds for The Children's Air Ambulance charity.
