As part of our KS3 half termly theme on World War 1 Remembrance, pupils have been using the artwork 'The Wave' (designed and created by Tom Piper and Paul Cummins) as inspiration for the development of a permanent piece of remembrance art. Staff were also invited to produce a ceramic poppy, to create whole school collaborative work of art.
The poppies formed the centrepiece of our remembrance service last week, led by Father Andrew Howard, our local vicar and Academy Governor. They will be placed in their new permanent home, within our courtyard garden, this week.
This week, the pupils are visiting the Imperial War Museum North to view The Wave in real life and further their understanding about the history and implications of WW1.
