The St Wilfrids Academy KS4 boys football team played their debut performance yesterday in the ‘Small Schools Football Cup’, with the first game away in Lincolnshire.

Despite trying their hardest, the team suffered a 9-0 defeat, however the determination, resilience and effort displayed by the boys was fantastic: the staff coaches couldn’t praise the squad highly enough.

The SWA Team comprise of many new starters to the academy, whilst their opponents were an experienced side – despite the obvious difference in sporting skills, the boys worked hard as a team, respected the referees and shook all opponents’ hands at full time.
